“Keep up with the pace and face of change you’ll be left behind”
– Rick McCutcheon, Microsoft Business Solutions MVP`
eXtreme365 Austin has a great reputation as a partner-first deep-dive event bringing the Dynamics365 channel together. One of the many strengths is the quality of instruction. We caught up with channel leader Rick McCutcheon to find his thoughts on the value of attending eXtreme365.
Rick McCutcheon is a Dynamics 365 Business Solutions MVP & certified sales professional. He leads a digital sales transformation and design practice specializing in B2B and channel sales organizations. Rick frequently speaks at corporate events and at these leading industry conferences, CRMUG Summit, Extreme365 and is the chair of the Canadian Dynamics 365 CRM user group community.
Q: What’s the best advice for someone thinking of attending eXtreme365 Austin?
Rick: I think the key is to understand if you don’t keep up with the pace and face of change you’ll be left behind. The pace of change is daunting – and that’s an understatement. A Partner-first event like eXtreme365 helps partners navigate that change and understand the latest opportunities and how to overcome challenges.
Q: What’s on your personal agenda?
Rick: I’m always interested in the good work done by partners at the Executive Exchange. That’s where the deepest thinking into partner transition and future growth happens. It’s a fabulous forum and opportunity for partners to work closely with Microsoft team members.
Beyond that I like catching up with partners and other Microsoft MVPs to see what they’re doing and spark some great conversation. Oh- and there are lots of great places to eat in Austin…can’t forget that.
Q: Anything about this year’s agenda that piques your curiosity?
Rick: As a partner, I’d be extremely curious about the new Exam Cram sessions for partners needing to meet the new Gold and Silver partner criteria. The rules for certification have changed and I think these prep sessions created with Microsoft can be a great benefit.
This is conference filled with experts. Expert partners in attendance, expert instruction in the sessions. Take full advantage of this rare partner-first opportunity. Learn a lot and build your own ecosystem of experts within the channel.
Q: Who will benefit from your sessions
Rick: I have two sessions: Digital Transformation of Selling: Planning and Implementing Social Selling Strategies and The Dynamics 365 ISV Success Panel
On digital transformation of selling: If you aren’t adapting to the ways of the customer you’ll slowly die. Just as you transform your business operation digitally, you need to transform your sales force to new ways of doing things. This session is for sales leaders – and partner executives who need to understand how to market in today’s world.
On the ISV Panel: ISVs play a critical role in the Dynamics ecosystem. But to build a successful ISV you need to know what you are doing. This panel will feature experts who have been their and can provide the right direction and leadership.
Q: Aside from speaking what will you enjoy about eXtreme365?
Rick: I make connections between people. I help partners find new solutions and help them make connections that will benefit their business and channel knowledge as a whole. At eXtreme365 the networking among partners is tremendous. You may be a traditional NAV partner today, but with the new streamlined offerings of Dynamics 365 and the Power platform, tomorrow might look very different. I enjoy building those bridges to help partners find their road into the future.
Q: Why is it important for partners to attend eXtreme365?
Rick: The pace of change in the channel is phenomenal. It’s good thing, as products become more efficient, user friendly and businesses receive the tools to take them into the future. But as a supplier of those tools it’s daunting. A Partner-first conference like eXtreme365 provides both high level instruction to help partners determine how to drive their business in the future, as well as providing technical instruction on the latest Dynamics 365 and Power platform tools.
